CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS FOR DOCK2DOCK 2023!

September is just around the corner, and we are excited to finalise the volunteer schedule for the 2023 Dock2Dock event.

As a volunteer at the 2023 Dock2Dock, you will receive:

• A complimentary Dock2Dock Volunteer T-shirt (unless you prefer to reuse your 2022 shirt)
• Lunch during your shift, and
• A £20.00 discount code for you or a friend to participate in the 2024 Dock2Dock.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in making Dock2Dock a success, and we would greatly appreciate your assistance in making this year the best one yet. There are a variety of roles available and no specialised skills are necessary, but we kindly ask that everyone completes training to ensure you are prepared for emergency situations.

Although we have never experienced a major incident at the Dock2Dock, it is important to know how to identify potential issues and effectively communicate with staff, fellow volunteers, swimmers, and spectators in case of an emergency. There are a few modules you need to complete:

1. ACT E-Learning – You will receive a downloadable certificate upon completion (even if you have already done it before).

2. SCaN – This module explores identifying suspicious behavior and provides practical advice.

3. Run Hide Tell – This video is particularly relevant to Dock2Dock as it takes place outside rather than in a lockable building.

In total, the training will take approximately 60-90 minutes of your time to complete, and you can do it online and at your own pace before the event.

* If you completed the above training in 2022, please note this on the Volunteer Questionnaire. There is no requirement to retake this however we do recommend revisiting the courses to refresh your memory.

Please join us by completing the Volunteer Questionnaire and choose shifts that you are available to cover. Once you confirm your availability for shifts, we will provide you with the necessary links and instructions to complete the training. We will require shift confirmations by Sunday 13th August and will aim to issue the provisional schedule 10 days prior to the event.
