DOCK2DOCK – VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
If you are volunteering for this year’s event, please ensure you have registered your details and availability by completing this form: wkf.ms/49a5MrC
NOWCA WRISTBAND
Each volunteer will be required to wear a NOWCA wristband at the event. This will contain your emergency contact details / medical information. In the case of an emergency, this allows the event staff to identify you quickly and access any relevant information.
If you have a NOWCA wristband, please bring this with you.
If you do not have a NOWCA account, please sign up using this link: actio.nowca.org/root/home
- choose ‘create a profile’
- complete all information and choose ‘Dock2Dock’ as collection venue
- Don’t make payment for a subscription (unless you wish to become a paid member)
- We will have a temporary wristband available for you at the event which will be linked to your account

Before starting, you will be asked a series of questions, please enter the following and then select Start New Training Session

** Please note that your completion is not recorded on this system. Please ensure you download your certificate as proof of completion.
WHAT TO BRING
We will provide you with a short sleeved volunteer t-shirt (unless you have specified you will re-use your t-shirt from a previous year). We will also provide lunch during your shift.
Depending on the weather, please come prepared with:
- Undershirt (in case the weather is cooler)
- Rain jacket / wet weather gear
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Wetsuit/booties (if you are volunteering at the water exit). We will contact you directly if assigned to this role.
CHECK-IN / OUT / BRIEFING / FACILITIES
You will need to check-in at the Volunteer Tent located in the event village, 10-15 minutes before your shift to collect your t-shirt and other items. If you are on an early shift, you will be briefed by an event staff member. If you are on a later shift, you will be briefed by the previous volunteer shift.
There will be space, either in the Volunteer Tent or the bag drop area to leave a small bag.
Please ensure you check-out after your shift is finished. If you are able to stay longer than your allocated shift, please let the Volunteer Co-ordinator know as they may need extra cover for a busy area.

TRANSPORT / PARKING

Whilst we encourage all swimmers / volunteers to use active transport to travel to the event, we understand that some may choose to drive.
There is limited paid parking available in the area on the day due to major events being held at ExCel.
You can pre-book parking on the JustPark app in the area.
Search Royal Docks Watersports, enter your times and pre-book.
If you are traveling by public transport, the closest station is Royal Albert DLR. You can also travel on the Elizabeth Line to Customs House and the event village is approximately 15 mins walk (0.6 miles). Please use TFL journey planner to plan your route: tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey
If you are traveling by bike, there are bike racks outside Royal Docks Watersports in the Dockside Road car park. If you arrive from Dockside Road, the bicycle racks are straight ahead. Alternatively, you may wish to lock your bike to the dock railings however please ensure they are well away from the swim entry / exit areas.
